My wife Tamara and I have lived in Saudia City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia since August of 2017. Saudia City was a center of Jeddawi culture in the 1980's and 90's but as fallen into a slow, downward spiral of disrepair in subsequent years. The architecture is mainly simple concrete apartments with traces Arabic influence. The apartments have high ceilings and spacious balconies. The villas are large and have shared backyards. With a grocery store, restaurant (City Station), swimming pools, and baseball diamonds it is a good place to raise a family. It is safe and spacious and one can only imagine what it looked like in its glory days. We aren't completely sure how long we are going to live here, so I have taken the opportunity to record our once iconic Saudi Arabian compound while I can. Join me on my adventure!
